Fun World, which closed in the fall, is one of three parks along the Grand Strand to come to an end last year.
Built in the late 1980s, city planners say Fun World was one of the first planned-unit developments in the city.
Property owners of the 14.24 acres of land at 700 Seventh Ave. S. plan to reduce the previous miniature golf course from 54 holes to 36, add a restaurant and build three-bedroom townhouses where there once was a skate park, go-karts, inflatable attractions, kiddie rides, an indoor arcade and a trackless train.
...... He said the new park will have a dinosaur theme and will be called "Dinosaur Adventure Golf." In addition, Damon's Grill restaurant, which vacated Barefoot Landing, will move to the new theme park.
At Fun World, Jack Hodges, who has partnered with Kenneth McDonald, said they are trying to have everything cleared by March 1 to begin construction on the townhouses.
Family amusements make summer fun a great experience. From miniature golf and go carts to classic kiddie rides and a skatepark, Fun World Family Amusement Park is year-round family entertainment. The Viper Race Track and Cobra Road Course are sure to please, while 54 holes of miniature golf will keep you putting all afternoon.
