The following are excerpts from a forum relating to 'Old St. Louis, Missouri'....Genealogy in St. Louis... I have yet to find a picture of the Park.

Holiday Hill amusement park was located at 9600 Natural Bridge Road and featured both adult and kiddie rides. I believe the park opened in 1955 and featured an Allan Herschell merry-go-round, Roll-O-Plane, miniature train, Octopus, Dodgems, walk-thru, kiddie coaster and Ferris wheel, as well as additional kiddie rides. Hope this info helps!

Well, digging a little deeper into my files, I found out that the park actually began as a kiddie park in the 50's with only 3 adult rides and 15 kiddie rides. The actual address of the park was 9741 Natural Bridge Road. The park had miniature golf, a pool, games, refreshment stands, penny arcade, archery and picnic facilities. By the 1960's, the park featured 7 adult rides and a shooting gallery and 14 kiddie rides and by the 70's, the park had 10 adult rides and 14 kiddie rides. William Zimmerman was the owner of the amusement park. The park lasted only into the 1970's.

I worked at Holiday Hill, on Natural Bridge, from 1961 to 1966, while I went to Normandy High and UMSL. I primarily ran the train, Dodgems, and Merry Go Round, but on occasion ran the Roll-O-Plane ( Salt & Pepper Shakers) and Tilt a Whirl... some GREAT summers there....

I remember Holiday Hill too, with the train...

Elementary school picnics at Holiday Hills. Puking after riding the " Bullet" twice in a row.

Holiday Hills Amusement Park, the ride with the 2 rockets, one on each end, I think it was called the Salt and Pepper ride. My brother had to have them stop it before I barfed on him!!

I loved going to Holiday Hills amusement park in the summertime. My favorite ride was the little boats that went around in a circle in a huge tub of water. And the helicopters that you could really make go up or down. Grandpa didn't fit very well in those.

....later I visited holiday hill, chain of rocks, and the highlands before it burned down.

The amusement park you referred to was Holiday Hills, now the site of a big hotel and a Waffl House.

The Highlands, West Lake and Holiday Hills amusement parks are gone.

It's a shame the Holiday,Airway and St Ann's drive in theaters are gone. Lots of fun memories for a dollar a car load.

Riding the Tilt-A-Whirl and the Wildcat at Holiday Hill Amusement Park on Natural Bridge. Also played some miniature golf there.

....going to Holiday Hill (collecting lightning bugs for free tickets)

...the memories you have brought back are incredible, our phone# started with colphax, but remember listings like evergreen, parkway.the old holiday amusement park I think it was located close to the white castle and there was a hamburger stand on the rock road called "the oasis"best pineapple shake around.

I don't have any pictures of Holiday Hill, although I was there several times. The first time I recall going there was on May 23, 1962, for our school picnic. Actually, our school picnic was at the Forest Park Highlands on that day. However, my mother decided that they would probably be too crowded. So she decided that we would forget about the real picnic, and instead have our own picnic at Holiday Hill. After that I visited Holiday Hill several more times in the 1960's and the early 1970's. I especially used to like to play their miniature golf.

Does ANYONE have photos of the old Holiday Hill amusement park on Natural Bridge? I went there in grade school. I remember working up the nerve to ride The Bullet -- the big ride with a spinning capsule on each end. I also remember the little train that went through a dark tunnel at some point, and you had to scream. That was the rule, even if you weren't scared.
