Local amusement park offers loads of fun...

Keeneland Amusement park has something for everyone from pool to go-karts. It also offers discounts to Eastern students.

The park also offers a handful of arcade games to play for tickets and win prizes.

If you're looking for a night out with friends, you might find your fun at Keeneland Amusement Park. Located off North Keeneland Dr., Keeneland Amusement Park has something to offer for everyone.

You can ride a go-kart and play arcade games, pool , air hockey, mini-golf, and basketball. The park also has lots of additions in the works.

Keeneland Amusement Park has been in business for eight years but recently started working harder to make itself known.

Owner Oscar McGee has always owned the business but up until recently had it leased.

Now, back in the reigns, he has a restaurant, wilderness trail ride and much more in progress. "We were just under development," McGee said.

McGee said his business provides a good, clean environment for college students to enjoy.

Keeneland Amusement offers fund-raising events for Eastern programs such as sororities and fraternities.

It also helps raise funds for Big Brothers & Big Sisters and other organizations.

Its pro-master mini-golf course is the "hardest mini-golf course anywhere," McGee said.

"It's a way from the college, a nice environment. It's a great break," McGee said of his park.

McGee also said that his park is a way for college students and other people in the community to stay in shape and relax.

McGee said the activities he has to offer are "not strenuous, but release stress."

If you're interested in a golf scramble, you can join a group of 24 other people; the group members will play against each other. The cost is $7 a person.

After the scramble, the group will receive $100, to be given to the winners or split up however the group chooses.

If you're more of a basketball player, Keeneland Amusement Park offers a 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

Cost for the tournament is $12 and the winners receive $100. On Thursday nights you can join in on the Thursday Night Heat Race.

In a 24-person competition with three races, the top three finishers win cash prizes and the entry fee is $7.00 per person.

An 18-hole mini-golf game cost $6 for adults, $3 for kids 5-13 and children under 4 are free.

If you lose your golf ball, it'll cost you $1. A single Go-Kart cost $7; a two-seater adult and child is $7 as well. You can purchase 55-65 laps for $15.

If you get hungry or thirsty while you're there, you can purchase a snack such as a Snickers or a Kit-Kat for $1 and drinks for $1.

McGee said it will be spring before his business is fully developed but the park will be open all year round, Tuesday through Saturday.

During November, Keeneland Amusement Park will offer free pool and air hockey and half-price mini-golf to Eastern students who present their student identifications.
