During the Jamestown Exposition, (1907) the amusement section was named "Pine Beach." It was located where the Navy Base piers are today. It had a circle swing, train ride, ferris wheel, carousel, & of course a Figure 8 coaster, as well as other attractions of that era.
It has generally been believed that Pine Island Park was just a fixture for the 1907 Jamestown Exposition.
I thought those 'thoughts' wrong. I am correct. OUTSIDE of exposition grounds was the PINE BEACH HOTEL. I have a listing of a Figure 8 Toboggan Roller Coaster deigned by Henry B. Auchy at Pine Beach in 1904. Now..locating Trolley records it was a Trolley Park and years before the exposition.
