A troubled tourist attraction that had operated in Williamsburg since 2004 has closed for good.

The latest owner of Wasserbahn Waterpark, which included a resort hotel, announced the shutdown in a Facebook post on Feb. 24, as reported by Iowa News Now. That announcement has been removed, and the website now reads: “We are permanently closed.”

Wasserbahn advertised itself as a resort that celebrates the German heritage of the historic Amana Colonies, featuring a mini-golf course, restaurant and lounge. The Seven Villages restaurant also is listed as closed.

The resort was most recently owned by Thomas Smock of Cocoa Beach, Florida. Wasserbahn, however, has had operational issues. The Iowa Department of Public Health shut down the facility for water quality and hygiene problems in 2013. It reopened in July 2014 after California transplants Yule and Sae Park bought the resort and made the necessary repairs.

It was also rebranded from a Clarion Inn to a Ramada hotel during that time.
